iPhone/iPod: ZenoniaSeptember 1, 2009
The game takes place in the land of Zenonia, your name; Regret. It’s a quest based RPG where the quests are styled exactly like World of Warcraft. Quest holders have a gold exclamation point over their heads, when you accept the quest, it turns into a grey question mark. When you have completed the quest it becomes a gold question mark. There’s several side quests along the way as well as the quests to complete the story line.
You have 3 job classes to choose from; Paladin, Warrior, and Assassin. The graphics are that of old school SNES Zelda, so you will defiantly get that classic old school RPG style feel.
Zenonia has hundreds and hundreds of weapons and items, and as you do quests and grind your way through the games story line, there’s several different pieces of weapons and armor you can find and buy, not to mention there is 5 different item classes; Normal, Magic, Rare, Unique, and Epic. Unlike most classic RPG’s, each weapon looks different on your character, and upgrades come frequently enough to keep you sucked in and looking forward to that next piece.
Just like in World of Warcraft, there’s a skill tree you can use to learn new active and passive skills to create a unique character every time you play. There are 8 Active + 8 Passive + 1 Ultimate skill for each job class.
Zenonia has a lot of replay value that will keep you addicted for weeks, and possibly more. The music isn’t too great and I spend most of my time playing with the sound off. The storyline isn’t the best either but for an phone game, it’s currently the best you will find. There’s comedy, drama, action, good, and evil, everything you would expect in an RPG. As you play, you have a good/evil gauge, and the quests you choose to complete will determine whether you will take the path of good or evil. You know the choice has been made when you get your fairy part way through the game.
I’m trying to make sure I don’t spoil anything for the potential players, so I don’t want to say too much. Everything you do in the game is very intertwined with the story line, so I will not discuss much at all other then the details about yourself are very sketchy, but you eventually figure it all out as you progress through this extremely addicting game.
Zenonia isn’t a brand new game, it’s been out for awhile and the makers of it, Gamevil, are already working on a sequel to this fantastic RPG. Gamevil in my opinion is a great company, they have employees that are active in the forums, and for once there’s a game company that actually listens to it’s players.
If your a fan of World of Warcraft and you love the old classic RPG’s, then you will find a new home with Zenonia!
